[CHICKENS-101] Re: How to manage free range egg laying in odd places?

Oh, how I know what you mean. I'm pissed at the chicken for all the food she eats as evidenced by the huge poops. And for nothing. I have no qualms about eating her which I keep telling her, but she just shrugs her wings and hides under the porch.

I did crawl under there today. It's low and there's all kinds of nails sticking down. I didn't see anything so I got the rake out and started to rake it out. Hmm. Found an empty egg shell. Now what could have eaten the egg? Would cats eat eggs? We have a woman across the street who has a dozen of the furry creatures. I hope it was one of them. I hate to think there might be something else crawling around my yard.

I don't like keeping them in the chicken yard all day, but I also don't like spending money on feed and get nothing in return. We have 13 hens so that can add up to a lot of unused eggs!
