Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: feed stores

Can't say for all the hatcheries but Ideal is already back ordered on many breeds. Not sure if their chickens aren't cooperating or if they're that busy. Sounds to me like very busy. So many people can only have pullets or only want pullets that I think that's why with current orders they're saying no pullets available until at least March to April. Plus there are feed store orders that I think try to order mostly pullets and like to have them in time for Easter. I'm on a waiting list for 2 breeds because they apparently got popular this year. Must remember to keep my big mouth shut and not talk up my favorite breeds or hatchery so much. Lol
Well that's my guess anyway. Interesting info on the colored chicks thanks for sharing. I don't think we have a minimum in KS yet but then I'm guilty of buying several every time I buy so what do I know.

OK the big "know-it-all" has a question. There is a mystery. Checking McMurray and Ideal hatcheries standard pullets. RIR's, Red Sex Links, Leghorns etc. Pullets are not available until mid-march or later. Ideal doesn't even look like it's in business. Males are available NOW. So, given that half the eggs hatched will be one way or the other what do they do with all the pullets in the February hatch?

Ol' George, who's definitely not as smart as he thinks he is.
