RE: [CHICKENS-101] Lost a chicken

I was thinking about ice also. Wondering if there was a way I could freeze a
portion in the waterer at night and fill it the rest of the way in the
morning. Then put it in their coop. Hopefully it would last at least half a
day. That would be great to get a hen from you. I will have to find a dog
cage or something to have her in while they get used to each other. Give me
a couple of days to work it out.

Thanks

Valerie,

I lost a hen today, also. She was one of my favorite Naked
Necks, too! She had a full crop and nothing seemed wrong with her. I
believe it was heatstroke! We put fans in the coops, today. I am changing
water twice a day and tomorrow plan to use some ice. My 6 week old chicks
really need to come out of the barn brooder, but the pen isn't ready yet.

If you are looking to replace your hen, I have several to choose
from.

Laura
