I'm a proponent of cat declawing myself, although our current Lacy is the only declawed cat I've ever had.  It's sure nice not to have to worry about furniture being damaged these days. 

Lacy has never shown any indication of being aware that her feet were different after her procedure, nor has her behavior changed in any way.  And she still whacks Petals just as if she thinks it's going to do some damage.  I just wish I'd had her back feet done also.

These two were not my only declawed cats.  Before I became allergic, I always had indoor only cats and my cats were always declawed, all 4 paws.  I had them fixed and declawed as young as possible.  Microsurgery made it possible to fix them as kittens; spay/neuter and claws. I'm glad my cats did not know that declawed, fixed cats have problems because mine were fine.  Maybe the amount of healthy food, play, and attention make a difference. Cath
