| Hello good list...my name is Julie and I too am a chicken addict...LOL...I ordered a batch of 25 (13 Speckled Sussex, 12 Salmon Favs) and 10 Jersey Giants to be delivered to my feed store in mid May. I am now getting around 22 to 24 eggs a day from the group I have all ready (Barred Rocks, "Easter Eggers", 1 RIR, 2 Black Star, Marans, a handful of bantams~1 silky, rest cochins, and a small assortment of mutts. I also broke down and bought a Little Giant incubator (forced air with auto egg turner). I set 39 eggs in and candled at day 8. I made a disastrous mistake as 19 that I thought were infertile WERE fertile but I had left them out over inght before checking them :( I`ll not be making that mistake again :( I have 15 still in the incubator and they will be 21 days on May 6th...We shall see. But you won't find it here because we are ALL chicken addicts! And happy with our addiction too! So when you buy chicks every couple of days is it just a few each time? I get my chicks from Ideal so it's like 25 at a time because they fill up the box with free boys, aka live packing peanuts, even if you only order 10 chicks. My 27 new babies were all chicks I selected, having learned that 14 Barred Rock roosters is a lot of roosters!
