Margo, I think I also remember hearing that they removed the peanut shells as a filler, since they are extremely irritating to a dog's digestive system and were causing a whole new set of problems.  I've always heard that adding plain cooked green beans or canned pumpkin to a dog's food is a good way to add bulk and help them feel full in a safe and healthy way.

             Hills used it in their "prescription" weight loss foods, r/d and w/d. It worked, but I preferred to feed them something that contained actual nutrition (and I used to be "certified" by Hills to sell/prescribe their foods....
