[CHICKENS-101] Dumb Question of the Year, but.....

I know this is REALLY going to sound stupid, but can chickens be afraid of the dark?

Ok, now that you all have stopped laughing, let me explain. My gals (7-8 weeks old now) are in their "big" house, and are loving it...but ONLY if it's either daytime or the light is on will they actually go INSIDE the coop section. If I forget to turn the light on in the evening, they just pile up by the door of the run and squeek at me to come get them.

Is this normal, or do I just have some really weird chickens on my hands? It's not just one or two of them...it's ALL of them (16). I will point out that, when they were in the brooder pen, it was on my back porch, and I have a dusk to dawn light out there, so they did get used to that.

Ok, back the regular scheduled programming....
