I'm very excited that I will be ordering and hatching my own chicken eggs and will be sharing the process with other chicken lovers. I decided I wanted the enjoyment of hatching my own eggs because it is very fulfilling to watch the process from start to finish. It's been a few years since I hatched any eggs.
I love raising babies! My first thing was to go to Ebay and see what hatching eggs were for sale. There were a dozen or so Serama eggs listed but I was looking for Silky Serama eggs so that narrowed it down to three ads.
I looked closely at the pictures, read the ads thoroughly, looked at the feedback rating for the seller and looked to see where they were located. Since I was in Massachusetts I wanted to stay on the eastern side of the United States. All three were good prospects in all parts so I narrowed it down to looking again at the pictures and looking for a diversified color flock as I would like a lot of color in my chicks. I found one I was pleased with most that was out of Kentucky, feedback was excellent, sizes of the parents were in the range I wanted and the colors of the parents were what I was looking for. I saw two bids had already been made so I did some mental calculations and put in my maximum bid and waited for the auction to end in 1 day and 1 hour later.
I will update as things happen! :)
