[CHICKENS-101] Re: Help! Egg Bound / Maggots

Anna,
I once had a little hen that had a sore on her backside, low to the
right of her vent, a sore that didn't heal for two weeks. When I took
the scab off, there was a wound that was about three inches long and
about an inch deep. I had her in for a couple of weeks packing the
wound with neosporin and taking out the bad hard yellow stuff from her
wound. It took a couple of weeks, but it healed from the inside out and
the scar was barely visible. I was blessed that she didn't have maggots
or fly strike during the time before I got her inside and was treating
the wound. Rosie was very good about being doctored, only once calling
me a name that rhymes with a brand of pen. Unfortunately, the next
summer, I lost her to egg binding. I miss that old chicken....
