[CHICKENS-101] Drop in egg production

Hi all ~ been a while since I was on this group. Life got in the way! Anyway, I have mostly heritage breed hens & a few sex links. 40 in all. Our weather here in Oregon has been on the cooler side with the exception of a couple of days in the low 80s. My chickens roam in our 4-acre pasture; get Layena, some scratch & black sunflower oil seeds, as well as oyster shell. The oldest are 3 years & 2 years for the rest.

Production for the last month has barely been a doz a day. In May I was getting on an average between 12-18 each day. In April, it was closer to 20-24 each day. For several months I've had various hens brooding (sometimes 5 at a time & once 7) which I don't allow to sit on eggs.

Is this normal for heritage breed hens of this age to drop that drastically? I checked my records for last year & I was getting on an average 22-26 each day.

Thanks for any input.
