Not sure I have time to worry with baby chicks as I am back working again. Seem to be recovering from my surgery just fine. Would I need to build a brooder or would the hen raise the chicks? I can get eggs. Thanks

Probably an old question but how do I get a hen to quite sitting eggs? I have been locking her out of the chicken house for about a week but when I let her in she goes straight back to the nest box and sits on a purple wooden egg. I tried removing the wooden egg and she sits my real ones and it confused my other hens. A person at work said his grandmother called these hens supper but I just can't do that to Lacy. Will it hurt for her to sit eggs if I collect them once per day? I still don't have a rooster if that makes a difference? Thanks
