well today i got an email from our old 4h poultry club leader. she has 3 hens that cant be in with the others and require a little more attention than the others and she doesnt have the room with over 60 chickens. i decided to take them. they are all around 18 months old to 2 years old. one is blind, one had a broke foot and now after it healed still cant bare the weight of the roosters weight on her and the other got her feathers plucked out by other hens and the rooster. they are all laying everyday and are either welsummers or dominics. i have a small chicken run that i use for sick chickens or when i need a quarintine one. it is about 5x6. i hope its big enough for the girls. i just also hope im doing the right thing by taking them in too. i just dont have coop/nesting box that they can stay in attached to it and since she already goes and gets them to bring them in at night i thought that id do the same and just put them in a large dog crate at night and take them out in the morning. do yall think it will work? i hope im doing the right thing. i mean i get to get them next week.
