It's also a happy egg day because Rita, the older hen, finally laid a normal egg with a good strong shell.  She quit laying for a while, and I figured it was because she was molting (which she was), and then for a couple of weeks she was laying eggs with very thin shells.  I recently realized she has fowl pox, which probably contributed to the poor egg production.  Someone kept breaking them and eating them.  So it was really nice to find two intact eggs in the nest boxes today.  Rita is on the mend and the pullets are finally starting to earn their keep!
