Subject: [CHICKENS-101] More on low egg production & molting
This last Spring quite a few of my hens went into a real good molt for the first time since I started with them 2-3 years ago & my egg production was drastically reduced.
When cleaning out their coop yesterday it hit me that there were an awful lot of feathers, as well as outside. Going out several times a day, I guess I just kinda overlooked it until it built up.
Was wondering if they can go through a second molt in a year, or perhaps the ones who didn't in the Spring are now doing their thing? I thought it would be too late in the year. As I mentioned in my earlier posting, our weather has been more on the cool side; haven't really had our summer yet! Any insight would be helpful before I decide that they may be ready for the stew pot this next year :)
