My egg layers go out in the rain and so did the bantam cornish, the rain falls off their feathers for the most part. Silkie down gets sopping wet, water logged, and then they are cold. Even in the summer they would stay in when it rained out. Most stayed in when there was a light a rain. As soon as the rain stops, they are out in the dirt digging away seeing how grubby they can get.
