[CHICKENS-101] Re: crazy momma hen

I don't want the chick to be by itself. As it is, I put this chick with her to try and get her out of her being broody after 4 weeks. This poor baby is always running...LOL.. I cleaned out her box this afternoon and put in fresh shavings, then put her back in it with the baby. Put them in the shed and closed up the doors a bit. She finally did settle down. And yes she is snuggling the baby to keep it warm. It is about a week old and seems to know that it needs water, just worried that it isn't getting enough to eat with her dumping everything over all the time.
I don't need anymore chicks... I have 3 hens laying (down to 2 now that Olivia is being a momma) and then husband found a chick in the parking lot at work, so got it a buddy and they are about 6-8 weeks old. So that makes 5 and now this baby...ugh... they keep multiplying...LOL.. My neighbors are going to be none to happy with me..
But I am thoroughly enjoying this.

Becky..

Can you put a rock or two in the water dish so it does not get knocked over easily? Hopefully momma will calm down. You always have the option of putting the chick in a brooder. Is yur hen sitting on the chick in between keeping her chick warm?
