Some people DO eat them. I have heard they are very much like chicken, only a little more game tasting. I haven’t tried them. I collect their eggs and either eat them or hatch them and sell them.
I have never considered their noise as an attractant for predators, but if the predators go after them and not the chickens, a positive purpose!
Having said all that, I just LIKE them. I find their appearance very interesting……..somewhat prehistoric looking. Their feathers are lovely and I have seen them used in decorating art and hats. They are unique in many ways and it may be one of those things you really like a lot or don’t like a lot. Personally, I love them and can’t imagine my farm without them.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Question about guineas
Rhonda,
You think chickens poop alot, wait till you get guineas. They will all scream day or night the second anything moves on the property - very noisy birds. And poop, well, enough said. They like to roam the property and do not care one bit to go back into a pen at night. To me, they attract bigger animals that like to feed on them which out weighs the benefit of them. You really don't eat them. So I really don't find a purpose for them. At least that has been my experience.
