Well I for one have never heard anyone in Kansas say that they hated Californians. We occasionally make jokes about stereotype things from other states but I know Kansas is the butt of like jokes as well. I don't get what the beef with CA or any state is.
Now as for the argument about LGD definition and what not. I understand that not everyone gets what the big deal is. I'm sure I may be blase about something other people are passionate about. I however am one of those that do get irritated when someone calls a border collie a LGD. They are a herding dog not a LGD. If left alone with livestock their natural instincts could hurt or kill the livestock. I like to have things called by what they are. I'm a bit OCD about using proper terminology and not passing on misinformation and dumbing down others. That said, I'm working on not jumping on other people for their mistakes or differences of opinion. I think most of us need to work on that sometimes.
Oh and I know I'm not a spring chicken although I'm fairly young I'm more old fashioned then most in my age group.
