RE: [CHICKENS-101] Question about guineas

Yes, but like with any poultry………some may pick on others and it can go either way.  If they are raised together from chicks/keets the issues aren’t as bad, but throwing adults in together could be troublesome.

I currently have about 70 Guineas and 50-60 chickens.  Too many Guineas ……….a hair-brained idea gone wrong.  I was hatching Guineas and selling them faster than we could hatch, so I ordered 50 from and hatchery and they sold pretty fast.  Then a SPECIAL at the hatchery and I ordered 100, thinking they would sell, of course………….well, it was July and got real hot and sales plummeted.

I thought about butchering some but decided not to.  I am seriously thinking about an ad on Craig’s List to read, “GUINEAS- young adults. Whites and Pearls. Lound and Fast. YOU catch YOU keep.  Limit 10.”  What do you think??

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Question about guineas

Anyone know if you can keep hens and guineas in the same coop?  Assuming guineas would need a larger perch...  I'm still not sure I want guineas, remembering how noisy they were when my dad had a couple, but they *are* supposed to be great on ticks.  That I (and my horses) could use.
