I'd treat them too. You can paint the roosts with oil, then wipe the oil off, to seal the wood so mites can't hide in the cracks. Other than cleaning out the coop, treating it with an insecticide, then rinsing it out again, painting/sealing all the wood/cracks, there isn't much you can do but keep your chickens treated for prevention every 3-4 months. Thanks for the ideas. I've got plenty of ivermectin on hand.
How do I make sure my coop is clean of mites? I have 2 roosters coming "home" on Monday and would hate to have them get mites.
