Robin, I'd suggest closing up the house, turning on window AC units and lots of
fans to drown the noise. ;o) That's what works here.
Our earlier flock didn't make nearly as much noise as our current flock does.
I'm not sure why, but it's as though one began getting loud while she laid her
eggs, then the others each tried to top her. We don't have a rooster, and I've
had some people suggest that that's why the hens are louder.
I think it's like people, some are just naturally louder than others. My
brother's in-laws are amazingly noisy. My DH and I are pretty quiet. We come
home from family gatherings at my brother's with headaches.

Hi Robin: Chickens at 6:15am, this is not normal. It could be due to their young
age. What are you feeding them? Most chickens start at 4:00am except in the
winter when they wait until 5:00 at least here in New England where it is still
dark at that time of the morning. BTW if one of your chickens just happens to be
a rooster I suggest ear-plugs
