[CHICKENS-101] Re: showing

If you think show chicken people are bad you need to lurk about cat or goat show people. Oh wait, I forgot to mention horse show people. The american persons have wandered so far from what is important. Chickens are for eggs and meat, goats for milk and meat, horses, at least still around here, are for work. Yes, a correct type is important but it shoudd never be the "end-all". I have barn cats, heaven forbid. Now, my problem wih Ideal is the Shamo they sent me were small and mis-marked. But then I knew better. They make good mommies though. Now for the amusing story. I move here and answer a local ad for chickens. I was looking for some whites. So no, whe doesn't have any and we chatter at each other for a minute or two and she says what kind of birds do you have. So I say Shamo. She say I don't know what those are. I say Oriental Game Chickens. DEAD SILENCE. A sudden CHILL over the phone line. Then she says I don't do that. I say do what?? Then the light bulb goes off. She thinks I'm a cocker. That conversation was our first and last. Carolyn
