[Attachment(s) from Deb and Randy Buckler included below] Ok, ok, I'm not Brittney Spears, but....oh dear, oh dear!!! Yesterday we went to the feed store and they had FINALLY gotten in the Modern Game Banty chicks I have been waiting for for so long. OMG. Talk about a kid in a candy shop! I about lost my mind!!! It has been a dream of mine for a long time to be able to have these Modern Games in all these amazing colors. We took home 4 Lemon Blues, 4 Silver Blues, 5 Self Blues (these little chicks look like they are made out of pale blue porcelain with huge, dark eyes!!) and 4 BB Reds! The BB Reds are different then the usual Black/Browns.
So we have quite a group of peepers! Precious, precious little things! But by later that evening, one of the little Lemon Blue chicks started pecking the other chicks, this one in particular, and made his little beak bleed! We had to separate the 'bad' chickie and put him in with the Silkies, who are now 2 weeks old. Luckily, the Silkies accepted him just fine and they all snuggled down together. Oh my, am I in Heaven, finally having all these cool Moderns. I hope I get at least one hen and one rooster!
The Silkys are SO adorable. We call them our Blue Smurfs since we don't know what they are yet and they don't have names. They sure have HUGE wing spans for such tiny chicks and Oh man what weird feet! They look deformed! Do Silkys have different feet from regular chickens? This puts me up to 35 chickens. Not quite 50, but I'm getting there! EEEEE!
