Hi Susan:

We have 11 Red Stars, 11 Black Stars, 5 Barred Rock, 5 Buff Orpington, 5
Black Australorp and 5 Silver Laced Wyandottes. They are 10 weeks old today
and came from Murray McMurray Hatchery. They are all pullets. I don't know
why, but I keep looking at McMurray's catalog at other breeds, and heaven
knows I don't need more chicks. I catch myself at Tractor Supply oogling
the babies, but have to keep telling myself no, no, no. I really wish I'd
gotten a few more that lay white eggs, but I always had it in my mind that
brown eggs are better.

Do you know whether the crushed egg shell will be a substitute for oyster
shell later on, or will they need both? I suppose at about 16 weeks,
they'll have to be put on one or both, since some of these pullets may start
laying at 16-18 weeks. Boy oh Boy! I can't wait to have a fresh egg. Do
Guinea eggs taste the same as chicken eggs?

We haven't been to the auction in Gray, but have had our carpenter tell us
that he goes occasionally. He has bought poultry and also my farrier. He
got 5 really nice RIR's last month and is very happy with them. They are
all laying well. We live in Fort Valley.
