Re: [CHICKENS-101] bad shipped eggs

I checked the seller's feedback and did my part correctly.  Unless there is something I need, there is no reason for me to buy eggs on ebay. I have decent silkies. Cathryn

I feel you should send me fresh, fertile, hatching eggs from the bird pictured and per your ebay ad black, blue, and splash.  That is what I paid for, want, and should have received.  Cathryn

I have been silent through this topic, but now I see people are turning away from Bay eggs all together.

I have done 5 purchases. From 5 different people. Shipped eggs from anywhere is a risk even if they are clean and fresh. Obviously filthy rotten eggs is a different story.

Imagine an egg, in a package given to a post office and all it goes through between here and there.

Everyone I have received eggs from have been wonderful people. they have always sent 1/2 again as many eggs as I purchased. One guys eggs from the east coast were 100% fertile and will be hatching on the 3rd out of the homemade incubator. The rest went into my cabinet incubator. And most are fertile.

They have been in great communication with me! There are fabulous people selling eggs online. Its just horrible that a few, pardon the pun, bad eggs ruin it for everyone!

Everyone I purchased from, I reviewed all their feedback first, visited their web sites, and asked questions before I bid. And I only bought from people who are APA members and NIPI certified... means the state looks at their chickens once a year. And that they would spend the extra monies on their hobby of selling eggs.

Don't give up on buying eggs on eBay. As I figure it, how match would it cost me to travel to Florida or Washington state to buy 2 chicks? If only 2 chicks hatch out of 12 eggs, I am ahead of the game. And so far, almost all will hatch, or at least have to opportunity! I need new blood! Arizona does not have a lot of breeders.
