Hi Georgia and others;
I'm here, silent as a lurker and just reading all the posts. I had hoped to have some birds by now but they are on hold until maybe next late Winter. In the mean time, I'll keep soaking up ideas on keeping them. The lake house, I am pretty much building myself, is coming along. I have 2 more doors to install plus an oak stairway. Then the inside will be complete. I've got to drywall the garage, finish a deck roof and finish a second 2 story hobby building plus yard work. The coop thing will be part of a chain link fence project encompassing a dog run as well as a chicken run. Hopefully this will be done for late Winter or early Spring 2012. The house is on Lake Livingston, Texas. It's in a small subdivision of 50 homes around an hour and a half drive North of Downtown Houston. Roosters will be out of the question, but no problem with around 10 hens. Ideal Hatchery is not too far away. Maybe an hours drive away. Being a newbie, I'll start with some $2.00 type pullets. (I don't think I'm ready for $60 birds). I do subscribe to a few chicken reflectors and get a poultry magazine. Right now I have my plate full so all I have going along chicken lines is my "Virtual Chicken Farm."
In the mean time, you all have fun with your kids. I know they are a big part of your lives and give you a lot of joy but unfortunately some bad experiences too. That's life. There is always some negatives with the good stuff. I've always had dogs, and it is always a very sad day when your paths need to part.
You all have a nice Easter.

| Sure, Lee, write a book. "How to Muddle Through Learning About Chickens". It's nice to see you posting, and how's everything going in your life? I wonder how many members here actually do have people to sit down across a table with to 'Talk Chicken'? I have met several people who are from towns about 45 minutes away, but nobody I see on a regular basis. Georgia For all your chicken's clothing needs, go to www.chickensaddlesanddiapers.webs.com |
