I brought two cockerels home last night as potential show birds for the fall. All her cockerels were in a cage made of metal and wood, only about as tall as the cockerels themselves. And lots of flies... it was clean and roomy, don't get me wrong. Only giving you those facts to ask this...
One was huge! His head constantly touched the top of the roof that is metal. The other is shorted and more compact. The taller one has black spots on his comb. The smaller one does not.
Besides parasites, as these birds are clean! What causes black spots? Could the flies do it? The metal he was rubbing? Can they go away? Anything to do to help it go away?
They're just 6 months old, black copper marans.
