Hudson (not sure of your name)
Most of us have been there…….trying our best to save a chick……..only to have them take their last breaths in the palm of our hand. I am not ashamed to say I have cried over many baby chicks………trying so hard to get water and food into them, to no avail.
I know I sound like a killjoy, but please prepare yourself for what very likely will happen. Once these chicks seem sick, there are usually too far gone to save.
My daughter and I sat together, each with a chick in the palm of our hand, watching their labored breathing until it stopped. I have toughened up “a bit”. I say “a bit” because I still cry over certain hens that have died and I know that if my little Modern Game house chicken were to get sick and die, I will very likely sob over her.
I sobbed the first year and told my dh I didn’t think I was meant for farm life, after all. In the four and half years we have been here, I have gained perspective and now I am overjoyed over the ones that live and subdued over those that succumb.
For your sake and your little chicks, I hope survival is in it’s near future, but if not, trust me when I say many of us have been there and we cry over them, too.

Yes, as a matter of fact I do have a fresh package of Gro-Gel. Thanks for
your advise.
She was acting a little better but still won't eat or drink on her own.
It's storming very badly here and I won't be able to check on her tonight.
I sure hope she's OK in the morning. I'll get out there just as early as
possible. Poor little baby. I'd hate to lose her.
