Skunks will kill chicks, eat the crop & guts out, they'll eat eggs ready to hatch, and eat the hen sitting on the nest. I know. My adorable peahen had her nest of peas ready to hatch and hatching, had the yolk sacs eaten out of them. I figured out a skunk kit was already living in the barn under the clean straw after the bottom was fenced w/ horse fencing covered with galvanized poultry fencing. Also killed was Pearl my precious guinea who loved me and acted like a pet chicken, and her pea eggs. Cathryn
I hope so too!I just awoke and everyone is still alive.Even an insomniac like me has to sleep sometime.Funny I was thinking about you when I wrote that post.Because I could not shoot a skunk I don't think!That is where I draw the line.They are like the coons around here though.They eat the cat food I leave out and so far have not got a chicken.So as long as they do not develop a taste for fresh chicken we will be good.Please send me that skunk and dog pic.if you have time.It was my screen saver until Chris tried to change it and deleted it instead...or any other cute ones you have.I so wish I had one.
