Hi Claudia, Layer feed and in the winter a little Scratch to warm them up.  Many of us avoid Purina feeds like it contains the Plague, due to the high number of recalls they have.  I buy from mills within my state that sell to local feed stores.  TSC has a lock in with Purina, who markets feed under a whole raft of names. 

And you are correct, we all have our own ideas about how best to feed our chickens.

Well I have learned a lot since I made the decision to start raising a few pullet layers to start.
Now one very important element of course is feed. And I must say the posts on this subject are all over the map. I've read everything from throwing your compost in the pen to Organic whole kernal only. So this subject has me stumped. What is the best way to get them their protein.
Can you combine commercial farmer feed with the whole kernal?
