I was wondering if anyone has experience with the chicken nipple waterers? Like they use in commercial operations. I'm seriously considering giving them a try...but was curious as to whether anyone else had. I would hate to spend the money and then it be a total flop. :(
I currently have a 5 gallon galvanized steel waterer in the Silkie Crib; 5-gallon plastic waterer in the Polish Crib; 7-gallon plastic waterer in the Layer Crib along with a rubber bucket in their yard. 7 gallons = 77 pounds. Since winter is officially here, I'm bringing them into the house, cleaning them and then refilling and hauling back out to the Coop. Ugh. We already 'know' how we'll hook up the homemade waterers with nipples - including an endless supply of fresh water without any concerns about freezing. Currently the galvanized sits on a metal bucket overturned with a lightbulb inside. The two plastic waterers have heat lamps above them to prevent freezing.
