Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Slim Shady has arrived.

Gina,  How sweet of you!  Cathryn

Well, I got a present from a neighbor that I had never met before today. He came to my front door with a soft travel case and asked if I could take his chicken. His other one got taken by a hawk and this one had almost had the same fate a while back. What's a person to do????????
Of course I took her.
She is a mutt, black with some flecks of white on her head and some red lines on her breast but mostly you just see black. She is quite skinny as they were only feeding her scratch. I put her in one of my empty pens and gave her new shavings, food and water and she seems happy. She is very calm and apparently was a pet. She has a name (which I forgot) and is very tame. My bleeding heart kicked in and so here she is. Hopefully she lays but probably not until spring given her body condition. She is just finishing her moult, most of her new feathers are in and she seems healthy. All the little Serama roos are very interested in getting over to say hi to her. They are teenages after all.
Sigh..............................................
