Re: [CHICKENS-101] 3 special needs hens

My chickens slept in a large dog plastic airline-type dog crate filled with shavings for the first year.  I used the plastic cups that clip to the metal wire on the door for water.  They did fine, although Rita nibbled on Abby's feathers a bit.  (Didn't pluck them out, just nibbled the ends off!)  As long is they only sleep there and get to stretch their legs in a run during the day, I don't see anything wrong with it.  And I personally don't see anything wrong with keeping special needs hens, as long as they don't seem to be suffering and can have a good quality of life.  Since all 3 are laying, I'd say it's a fairly good indicator that they are not too stressed.  I think you're doing a wonderful thing, and I hope it works out.
