Re: [CHICKENS-101] Writing In A Spider Web

Yes, that's what all this 'Charlotte' conversation is based on.

Percy encountered his own 'Charlotte' tonight and it about did him in.  We were in the big chicken yard, dismantling that collapsed tent, and there was a large garden spider with a web between 2 trees.  I pointed it out to him and not 5 minutes later he walked right into the web, lurched backward and wearing big clumping barn boots, didn't stop lurching until he collapsed into the fence.  Made a complete mess out of it too.

I asked him later if the spider frightened him and he said no, but that from the moment he tried to step backward he had no footing.  Those barn boots are vicious, I've stumbled around wearing them too.

Georgia, I think Laura is referring to the children's book Charlotte's Web, wherein Charlotte (the spider) weaves "SOME PIG" into her web in an attempt to save Wilbur (the pig) from being slaughtered. It worked.
