Re: [CHICKENS-101] Mites? Poison ivy?

Me.  Within minutes.  and it's awful.

Yes, if you are strongly allergic or sensitive to it, like me, it certainly does get into the bloodstream and affects the nervous system.  Wherever it touched the skin it can act just like a chemical burn, which it actually is.  Large scale swelling, skin peels, and you itch all over, especially anyplace that gets warm.

Takes medicine and at least a month or more to go away.  Cross your legs without thinking and find yourself scratching in public.  My face swelled up to where my eyes swelled shut, fingers were so swelled I couldn't write or type.  Oh, it's lots of fun.  NOT.  And my daughters have the same reaction.

My husband, now, doesn't seem to get it.  His father didn't either.
I didn't until the year I was 13 and got my period.  I had picked it for samples for Girl Scout summer camp.  But that year was the first time I got a rash on my hand.  Turns out that was the sensitizing rash.  Second time I got poison ivy, it really blew up big time.

I've had it a few times in my life, too many.  We are very careful.

Has anyone experienced an immediate reaction from PI?  For me it always takes about 18 -24 hours.
