RE: [CHICKENS-101] alfalfa & bedding pellets

I have alfalfa cubes around since it's what I use for horse treats--I've never seen the chickens do anything with them (I had wondered the same thing, so I tried putting some cubes in the coop). I think they are just too compressed. Don't know if they'd be interested if the cubes are soaked (as is sometimes done for a horse that needs soft food). However, if you bought a good bale of alfalfa and had a safe place to store it, you could probably just toss a handful to them every day (up to a flake, depending on how many chickens you have).

I dried and bagged lots of (chemical-free) grass clippings last summer after I noticed the chickens were delighted with it when I used it for bedding the winter before. No alfalfa in it, but plenty of clover and forbs along with the grass (yeah, mine is not what Better Homes and Gardens would consider the ideal lawn! )

Did you check out automatic photo albums in Yahoo Groups?
When you send mail to your Yahoo Group with photos attached, a photo album with attached photos is automatically created. When your group members reply to the email with photo attachments, those photos are added to the 'photomatic' albums automatically!
