We have one Cayuga and one Pekin (Daffy and Donald!). I have no idea how to sex them but I'm pretty sure Daffy is a male since he has pretty green and blue feathers coming in. They are driving me nuts! The coop now stinks and I didn't know they made a mess of all the waters they could get to! I have to change the chicken and cat water bowls multiple times a day so they have fresh water. Soon it won't be such a problem because I'm about done with a big run for both the chickens and the ducks. Then we plan on just letting them out when we are home. They have acclimated well to chicken life. My rooster keeps them in line and doesn't let my hens harass them too much. I do have a small kiddie pool for them. I love to watch them swim and dive cleaning themselves. They aren't as gentle as I had hoped but we didn't get a chance to mess with them much as babies. Same for my little chicks. They will come around but don't want to be petted. I wasn't going to get ducks at all but my step son begged me for a year and a half. I don't think I will do it again unless one needs rescuing. Right now they are eating an organic layer and since my small chickies are in the coop now, I'm mixing with an organic starter. Neither are medicated. I go through spells of adding viatamins to the water and then plain water, then I'll run a dose of that wazine through. I haven't done the wazine yet with the ducks because I didn't know if it would be safe. Thanks for all the advice everyone!
