I use a plastic trash bag to in mine and replace it after each hatch. Eliminates almost any mess andkeeps whatever mess there is contained.

Shannon, I used foil because I figured it would not react with the water I had to add during hatch. If I had to pull the turner out to clean or anything the foil could be folded up and tossed and new put down. (One must be prepared for emergencies- I dropped an egg once when candling. Ugh!) You should have heard my students. "You killed Harry. No it was Bob." ET... They teasing, yet horrified, and laughing. Thank heavens the egg was not fertile!
