Bunk. Crushed/chopped does not get enough capsicum in the water. I go by the adage that water should be clean, clear, and fresh at all times. I use ground/pulverized in a blender hot peppers and fresh garlic I raised to help prevent worms 2-3 times a year. If it prevented cocci not one of my older chicks would ever get cocci. Orego-Stim is supposed to do the same with cocci too. I believe that it helps reduce the protozoa, but switch a bunch of chicks from different brooders and barns around, and watch the different strains of cocci make some of the chicks sick. You have to be careful with garlic and onions and not feed them daily in their feed or water.

You can add crushed garlic and chopped hot peppers to apple cider vinegar and add to the water and it works great. It treats and prevents coccis and helps with deworming.
