Re: [CHICKENS-101] HELP... I think I killed my hatching eggs

Jennie, Give them 4 twenty-four hour days then candle them.  After 4 days you will see a collection of red veins and maybe a little spot in them.  If you do not have an egg candler there are how to directions to make one in our links and files.  Or you can order one reasonably at Twin City Poultry Supply.  If your eggs are clear they died from the high temp.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] HELP... I think I killed my hatching eggs

My first try and I am using an 'old style' used Hova-Bator styrofoam incubator. I had the temp stable at 100 degrees for a half a day before putting my eggs in last night. This morning it read 105. I was very worried and immediately turned it down a quarter turn but had to leave for the day. When I got back the thermometer was at 104. I finally got it back down to 100 but do you think I should go ahead and toss this batch of eggs out and start again? They haven't even been in there for 24 hours yet and I may have killed them already. Will the eggs just not develope or will they develope abnormally into something that I will need to put them down due to defects? If it's the later, I would rather toss them now before they start developing.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Jennie (in CA)
