[CHICKENS-101] chick question

One of my hens disappeared, found some time later in the upper hayloft setting three eggs.  She hatched them successfully last Thursday (balancing the slaughter of 8 chickens, including the rooster, while I was in making supper that day!  Still no idea by what--heads pulled off, so maybe weasel or fisher.)

I gave the the little family water and  variety of food up in the loft, and since we had to be away over the week-end, I also laid hay bales so that the chicks couldn't fall over the edge.  They are still doing fine.  But--they can't stay up there for long, between the problem of keeping them properly supplied, and this year's hay going in.  At what point should I try to carry the chicks down and have the family rejoin the (now-small) flock?  Should I do it in the evening and put them in the coop with the rest after they've gone to sleep?  Suggestions?
