Dr. Doug, Are you a vet or a human dr? My white rocks are awesome! Smart, great layers of very large brown eggs, gentle, and easy to train. I've had them go broody three times in the last 2 years. Eric a 101 member sent me a pair two years ago. I've had barred rocks that were the smartest, gentlest rocks and others stupid. Must depend on the hatchery line and probably holds true for all hatchery stock.

So I was thinking of getting some Plymouth Rocks and some Rhode Island Reds, my local supplier said he can get Barred Rocks but not Plymouth Rocks, anyone have any input, I mean they look the same, but any first hand experience?
