Re: [CHICKENS-101] Washing eggs

I only wash what looks like needs to be washed with cold water. The rest go in cartons and customers are told so.
I would have no prob with washing if requested to do so but noone seems to have a prob with it thus far. I am learning that people do not know much about eggs where I live... So I'm gonna make a handout to go with them and explain the differences... LOL. Easier that way.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Washing eggs

I gave away the first dozen eggs my hens laid to some friends yesterday. And then today I read that I wasn't supposed to wash the eggs first. I'm new at this and didn't know that the eggs had a protective coating to keep out bacteria. I called my friends to let them know. Lesson learned.
