[CHICKENS-101] Re: Storms

We had very strong winds whip through Kings Mills Friday afternoon,
AFTER the electricity went out. A neighbor catty-cornered from us had
their two-story barn/studio flattened by a tree, and down the hill, a
little before the hairpin curve, a tree was across the road. You would
not believe the people that tried to go around the tree on a little
two-lane road. One person tried and ended up being taken to the
hospital by ambulance.

We didn't get our electric back until about 8 Saturday (yesterday)
morning, and we were glad to get it back, as it was so hot I didn't
sleep well at all. Some places closer by still had their electric out
on Saturday.

To make this chicken related, all the chickens and ducks are fine. They
didn't want to go into their shed, because they are so used to having
light all the time in their shed. Eggolas the Ambers rooster, stood
guard at the door, until I took a battery operated lantern in, then went
out and shut their door. They do not like the dark, but had two nights
of darkness, because hubby needed to reset the breaker for the garage
and shed. I will be glad when this hot weather is over with.
