Hi Tina, It's illegal in the United Kingdom because of past disease problems. I googled "UK cannot feed livestock kitchen scraps" and an entire page of items came up.
Hope your day was great yesterday! Mine was. My two 20x30ft pens are completely covered in new fencing, double and triple! Not even a wild bird can get in. The man we hired finished the one side yesterday. Because of a wild stray cat and the neighbor's cat we are having to double and triple fence all of the pens. (Huge expense.) My helper who is no longer my helper because she let these cats out of my live traps. These cats spend hours trying to find ways into my pens to kill and eat my chicks.

If you take leftovers, cut up, put it in a bowl, the food is presented as food vs tossing out scraps to them in my book. I remembering reading several years ago that the law was passed because people were obtaining eaten off of scraps from restaurants and schools and feeding it to their livestock. There was a big disease problem because of it in hogs.
