Very interesting. I've read that the shell is permeable. I wonder if the CO2 passes through the shell thus leaving a minute gap.
Of course this leads to more questions. What causes the CO2. I might understand if this were a fertilized egg. One might surmise that the chicken fetus gives off CO2, but I don't know if this is the case. So I guess the question is where's the CO2 coming from.
And speaking about permeability. I was talking with my neighbor that I read someplace, probably in one of the hatching papers that shells are permeable. Wonder how permeable - can a virus/bacteria enter an un-cracked shell.
