You don't mention how many chickens you have. If you have a small flock, you could get a temporary chicken house to keep them in. A tin storage shed might work, or one of those neat poly dome calf hutches, if you partially close up the calf size opening, or even an extra large dog house. The calf hutch would have the advantage of allowing light to pass threw it, giving your chickens the light they need to lay better. Put down a good layer of straw or wood chips to keep them off the frozen ground. Since heat rises, having a hole in the roof is especially bad. A black rubber floor mat will hold heat nicely if you put a heat lamp over it.
