I like to think they coo for the same reason a cat purrs………they are comfortable and happy. Now, when a chicken growls, that is kind of scary. Like, right before I reach under them for an egg. I am getting pretty good, though. I now go in from behind and they don’t seem to be as bothered as when I try from the front.
