Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Adios

Dear 'Ole George,   If you did not present "crusty" replys and comments I would think that something was wrong,  or maybe you were "poorly" that day.  I sometimes say things that can be taken the wrong way and do not do so on purpose (well most of the time).  Most of the time I can determine if the comment was mean on purpose, just plain rude, or if the comment was meant to be "silly".   My experiences with "know it alls" and people who feel they have the right to speak any way they want to, any time they want to with no regard for other peoples feelings have been many through the years (and yes I have lots of years).  Usually if you are patient they will go away and find another victim.  They do not like to be ignored.   I plan to stick around and continue learning and will miss those who feel it necessary to step away from the group.  Some I will miss, some I won't.

I agree with you about RIR and don't have any of my own.  I was surprized recently by my Golden Seabright roo when he showed his true colors and became mean and overly protective of his girls.  Then he tried to take over the rest of the flock and the Splash Maran told him otherwise.  It was funny watching the BIG maran and the LITTLE seabright fighting over territory.  Now that they are separated by fencing one or the other of them sometimes flys at the other, but they can't actually reach each other.   Reminds me of some of my kids.

Have a great day.  Hope you are digging out of the storm!  It is 36 degrees right now in Georgia.     Susan

I also would apologize to any and all that may have taken offence at my raving. My criticism of Show chickens and those who are involved with them is more of a joke than actual trash talk. I am well aware of effort required and the real rewards of the hobby.
On the other hand my comments on the Rhode Island Red is no joke. The true breed is a dangerous animal. At least the rooster is, the hens are only hazardous. True RIR roosters are much in demand by the Pre-owned Automobile Parts trade as security. They are easier to keep than the canine variety.
Ol' George
