Best wishes your way George. We are under a winter weather advisory here in DE. Not supposed to get more than 3". Rain, snow, back to rain. And I'm hoping they are right on that. Way to early for this stuff. Not ready to get the coveralls out yet.
I was trolling Craigs List here a bit ago. Snow blowers/throwers for sale all over the place. DH does small engine repair, time for him to start gearing up.
Last time I remember snow this early was back when I lived in So. IL and we did have snow on Halloween. And that was a coons age ago. Ok, I've only lived on the East side 8 years, but it was awhile ago. : )
Gothy/Dawn in DE where it's after midnight and still 46* and hoping it stays that way

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Winter in here
OK, We are in survival mode. Prepare the chicken coop and farm for a Northeast Blizzard!!! IN OCTOBER!!! This is ridiculous!! Starting tomorrow afternoon the storm is expected to lay down 6" of wet heavy snow. Many of the trees still have their leaves. The forecast is for widespread power outages. slippery road conditions etc. Have to stock up on water, fire wood for the stove and food we can fix with primitive methods. Oh the fun of camping out. Unfortunately it takes a least one good storm before the population remembers how to drive in the stuff. We'll be picking them out of the trees. Especially the teens. It should not last more than 12 hours. About half of that will be intense.
